Born From the Backcountry

Alpine-fell began in 2015 when two former park rangers realized that too many visitors were missing the true magic of Canada's wilderness. They saw crowds at popular viewpoints while vast stretches of pristine backcountry remained unexplored.

That first season, operating from a small office in Canmore, they guided just 47 travelers through the lesser-known trails of the Canadian Rockies. Word spread. By 2018, they had expanded to include expeditions across Banff, Jasper, Yoho, and the remote reaches of Yukon Territory.

Today, our team of twelve certified guides has led over 4,000 adventurers into some of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth. But our approach has not changed: small groups, deep expertise, and an unwavering commitment to conservation.

What Drives Us Forward

We believe that meaningful travel changes people. Standing at the edge of a glacial lake, watching a grizzly forage in a distant meadow, or waking to the silence of a snow-covered forest—these moments rewire something fundamental in us.

Our job is to create the conditions for those moments to happen safely and sustainably. We handle the permits, the logistics, the route planning, and the equipment. You bring your curiosity and your willingness to be transformed.

Our Guiding Principles

The values that shape every expedition we lead

Conservation First

Every route we choose, every campsite we use, every practice we follow is designed to leave these places better than we found them. We donate 3% of all bookings to wilderness preservation initiatives.

Authentic Connection

We prioritize depth over distance. Rather than racing through checkpoints, we encourage travelers to slow down and truly absorb their surroundings. The best memories come from presence, not pace.

Safety Without Compromise

All guides maintain current certifications in wilderness first response. We carry satellite communication on every expedition and maintain comprehensive emergency protocols for all terrain types.

Indigenous Respect

We operate on traditional territories and work to honor that responsibility. Our partnerships with local Indigenous communities bring cultural context that enriches every journey.

Our Business Model

Alpine-fell operates as a licensed tour operator specializing in guided wilderness expeditions throughout Canadian national parks and protected areas.

Revenue is generated through expedition bookings. Each package includes professional guide services, necessary permits, specified equipment, meals during the expedition, and transportation to trailheads. Accommodation varies by package type.

We maintain all required commercial operating permits for the park regions in which we work. Our pricing reflects the expertise of our guides, the quality of our equipment, and our commitment to sustainable small-group travel.
